Mexican President Claudia Scheinbaum said the Mexican Security Council, together with local prosecutors, were investigating the case to determine the exact motive and arrest those responsible for the incident, and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. As the prosecutor handling the case revealed, Marquez may have been killed by a hired gun and it may have been a case of murder targeting women.
